Welcome to

Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA)! The premier Flight Training Academy in Asia offering a wide range of courses. AAA is a privately owned company based in the Gan Island in the Republic of Maldives. Formerly a well known RAF Base and at present a prominent touristic destination in Asia.

We offer flight training from the basic ab-initio to Private Pilot (PPL) and to the advanced Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) standards. The flight and ground training is conducted in accordance with ICAO and JAA-FCL compliant standards as required by the Maldivian Civil Aviation Dept; (MCAD), an ICAO member state.

Our aim is not only to help people realise their dreams but to help pilots develop to their full potential. We provide the students with all the available support and resources they need to reach their full potential as a qualified pilot and achieve their career goals.

Thank you for your interest in Asian Academy of Aeronautics and for giving us an opportunity to explain what we have on offer for the aviation enthusiast and prospective students. It will help you to understand what is involved in pilot training, the aim of the school, the commitment expected from you and the cost and duration of courses being offered.

Learning to fly is a personal challenge that offers a chance to do something really different. The process can teach you as much about yourself and your skills as about flying an aircraft. You will develop improved self discipline and self-analysis as you learn to safely operate these machines. You can learn to fly in as little as a few months with weekly sessions.
Passing the CPL test and being issued with the licence entitles you to carry passengers for hire or reward, in association with a licensed air service operator. This licence is needed to operate as pilot in command on charter services. You will also be able to fly as pilot in command of single pilot aircraft or as co-pilot in multi-crew aircraft.
The instrument rating (IR) allows you to fly in cloud/poor visibility during the day or night (IFR conditions). The rating takes a minimum of 50 hours of flight training in tracking on navigational aid, instrument approaches and landing procedures, departure procedures and emergency procedures. Out of the 50 hrs, 20hrs could be ground time in a "Flight Training Device" (FTD) approved by the authority.
